Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
When two young sisters disappear from a strip mall parking lot in a small Pennsylvania town, their devastated mother hires an enigmatic bounty hunter, Alice Vega, to help find the girls. Immediately shut out by a local police department already stretched thin by budget cuts and the growing OxyContin and meth epidemic, Vega enlists the help of a disgraced former cop, Max Caplan. Cap is a man trying to put the scandal of his past behind him and move on, but Vega needs his help to find the girls, and she will not be denied.
With little to go on, Vega and Cap will go to extraordinary lengths to untangle a dangerous web of lies, false leads, and complex relationships to find the girls before time runs out, and they are gone forever.
I am about 18% into this one and it’s been pretty interesting. I am starting to like the characters pretty good. Trying to get a jump on some January reads! 🙂
Jamie Brandt was not a bad mother, later she would tell that to anyone who would listen: police, reporters, lawyers, her parents, her boyfriend, her dealer, the new bartender with the knuckle tattoos at Schultz’s, the investigator from California and her partner, and her own reflection in the bathroom mirror, right before cracking her forehead on the sink’s edge and passing out from the cocktail of pain, grief, and fear.
Well, I don’t know her well but she didn’t see wouldn’t get mother of the year and it seems like if you have to tell all those people then you must really not think your that great a mother.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
Mrs. Lanawicz struggled to walk, her legs bowed, back bent at the base. She made her way toward Vega, shouting various threats, “You can’t come into my property. I have a lawyer. This is a home invasion situation…” This is from the eARC so it could be altered in the actual release.
Not sure what is going on here but I sure am curious. 🙂
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
What character or characters would you not mind sharing a New Year’s kiss with?
I am going with a character from a book I just finished not to long ago. It’s a book I can’t get out of my head and one of the characters is the reason why I can’t get it out of my head. Daniel, seems to be a jack of all trades, he seems to be comfortable in gentleman’s clothing but also in workman’s clothes. I have my suspicions as to what he might actually be and can’t wait to read the next in the series. He is a bit swoon worthy in my opinion so I am going to pick him. 🙂
