I am a huge Winnie the Pooh fan and I was excited to get an online screener to watch for my honest opinion. I want to thank Grace Hill Media for getting me the screener.

GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN

Staring:

Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie, Will Tilston, Kelly Macdonalds, Richard McCabe, and Alex Lawther

Goodbye Christopher Robin is a look into the life of author A. A. Milne who wrote Winnie the Pooh. You would think with such a belove character there would be lots of happiness in the author’s life but it wasn’t a very happy life.

A.A. Milne was a playwright and when the first world war came around he was drafted and it greatly affected him and like many soldiers he came back with PTSD. He also came back with a passion to write something so great it would stop another horrible war from happening, but he was struggling with it.

While trying to create this great novel he had a lot of time to spend with his young son, Christopher Robin, whom they all called Billy Moon. Christopher had a group of really cute stuffed animals and we can all gather who those animals become. He carried his bear around the most. A.A. Milne, whom his son called Blue, and Billy spent a lot of time out in the woods where the setting for the story started to take form. It wasn’t the great war novel but it would end up being something that people needed just as much something to make them smile.

The only thing bad thing was that he based it on his son and when everyone realized there was a real Christopher Robins it really put a damper on his childhood. Milne didn’t realize it until it was too late the effect it had on his son. He was such a popular icon by then and we all know that some children can be horrible at times.

The movie takes you from the author’s life after the WWI all the way to his son growing up and going enlisting and being in WWII. Don’t want to give to much away as you just need to see it for yourself. 🙂

Goodbye Christopher Robin was really good dramatic movie and I really enjoyed it though there was a couple of times it had me tearing up a bit. The beginning was a bit slow but a lot of dramatic movies are like that, but I found it very interesting. Like I said above you would have thought they author’s life would have been a happy one but instead it was filled full of sadness and even when he becomes famous with Winnie the Pooh he still never had a very happy life. It’s sad to realize that my favorite characters ended up giving the author’s family such an ordeal. Winnie the Pooh and friends will always be some of my favorite characters and I think it will always continue to be a very beloved children’s story.

I don’t know about you but I find movies like these very interesting because it gives you so much insight into how beloved characters come to life. If you’re a Winnie the Pooh fan or love dramatic stories about the lives of famous people then you really need to check out this movie.
